What can I expect from your Preschool?

We will provide your child with the best start to their education via a teacher-led and play-based learning curriculum. They will be based within our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) unit alongside our Reception children. The Class will be lead by a qualified EYFS Teacher and supported by a Teaching Assistant. The classroom is bright and airy with its own secure, multipurpose playground. We also have lots of great, outdoor spaces where the children can explore, play and learn.

What is the Preschool Provision / FEEE Offer?

We offer places for children aged 3+ in our mixed Reception/Preschool class, with a qualified teacher.  Children are eligible to join in the term after their 3rd birthday.

We offer free funded places (FEEE) of up to 15 hours (universal offer, for all 3 and 4 year olds) and 30 hours per week (known as the extended offer, for eligible parents), as well as paid hours on a flexible basis (subject to availability).

Qualifying parents have an entitlement of 570 (ie 15 hours x 38 weeks) or 1,140 (ie 30 hours x 38 weeks) hours of funded provision in a year.  As much or as little of this as be taken, as you wish.

Any parent using hours in excess of their free entitlement will be subject to the charges as detailed below.

Our Preschool is open Monday to Friday, 38 weeks per year (term time only).  We are closed on Bank Holidays and do not charge for these days.  We do not offer stretched funding.

What will the costs be?

30 Hours Funding

30 hours funding over 38 weeks (as a term time setting). You can check eligibility for 30 hours by visiting: https://www.gov.uk/free-childcare-if-working/check-youre-eligible

Children accessing 30 hours funding can share with another provider as long as they are also delivering on a 38-week model. To validate and access the 30 hours funding we will need a Childs Dern code and parent’s national insurance number before the start of the term in which they become eligible. It is Parental responsibility to revalidate their Dern codes.

Full day timings are: 8.45am- 11.45am then 1pm-3.15pm (school gates open at 8.35am)

For any child that attends all day, unless they are taken home between sessions, there will be an additional charge for the lunchtime period staff (11.45am-1pm) = £5.00 per day

Your child can have a school meal if you would like them to at a cost of £3.10 per day or they can bring a packed lunch.

15 hours funding

In the term after your child is 3 you will be entitled to 15 hours of government funded sessions. We will apply and access this funding for you. If you choose to take more than 15 hours you will be charged for extra sessions taken and the cost of this is outlined below.

Additional Hours

If your child is 3 at the time of starting but doesn’t receive the government funded hours until the following term or you would like to top up your funded sessions, the session costs will be as follows: -

8.45am-11.45am = £21.00 per am session

1pm-3.15pm = £21.00 per pm session

Do you support families on low incomes?

School uniform is optional for preschool children. However, if they would like to, items can be purchased from our uniform supplier - more info can be found here:  www.richardhillprimary.uk/school-life/school-life/school-uniform

If we join preschool, does that mean my child will automatically be enroled in your Reception Class for the following year?

Unfortunately not, the usual Admissions process still applies. Our School Admissions criteria can be found on our admissions page: www.richardhillprimary.uk/key-information/key-information/admissions
